Reiki – The Same For Dogs As It Is For Humans?

dog reiki hand positions

I had a question the other day if Reiki is the same for dogs as it is for humans, and the answer is yes!

Reiki is a Universal Healing that benefits and aids all creatures on earth, as well as a myriad of other things.  The hand positions for Reiki for dogs can be the same or modified.  In fact I have even used my feet to channel the Reiki energy to my sleeping dogs or cats.

I had a dog that wasn’t feeling well, and I was so exhausted from the day, that when I went to bed and the dog was laying at the foot of my bed on top of the covers, I was able to touch him with my feet and use my intent that the Reiki energy would keep transmitting even while I was asleep.

If you have your 2nd degree Reiki, than you know that you can send the Reiki telepathically, or remotely without touching.  But many people are still learning hand positions and are afraid of making a mistake.

There are no mistakes in Reiki.  Let me say that again…you can’t make any mistakes with Reiki.  Reiki will flow and heal the areas that need healing without us (the sender) knowing exactly what needs to happen for healing to begin.

It helps us mentally to think that if we have our hands in the correct position, that Reiki will be more effective, but that isn’t necessarily so.

It will still flow and go where it needs to.  The body receiving the healing energy will know what to do with it, and how to use it.  It might be neutralizing the beginnings of cancer, or healing emotional trauma from a previous life time…we don’t know exactly what it is doing, but as practitioners, we don’t need to know.

But many times I am asked by the dog owner if I am feeling anything or picking up on anything.  And quite honestly, sometimes I’m not supposed to know.  It might be something that might not be in the dog owners highest good to know.  Or if a client asks me if I know what I am feeling, again the feeling might be that I am not supposed to say what it is.  It is in the process of healing so it is not beneficial to dwell on “what it might be” rather than “it is healing, just release it”.

Reiki is a healing modality based in Love and comes from only one source…some people call it the Universe, All That Is, Source, or God.  You can call it by any number of names, or systems, or methods, but it all comes from one place.

Feel free to share this post, or share your experience below, I like to hear how others use Reiki for dogs…

    Hi,
Based on your statement written above (I quote:”There are no mistakes in Reiki. Let me say that again…you can’t make any mistakes with Reiki….” well, my father is a Reiki practitioner. In 2004 he emigrated to Israel and due to his tremendous feelings of doubt, anxiousness and stress he decided to give himself a session of Reiki through which he happened to unwillingly fall into some kind of unconcious state for 3 days after which he “woke up” in hospital, not even knowing what really happened to him…
    How can you explain that?
    Thanks a lot!
    Judy.

Judy, I’m so sorry to hear about what happened to your father. Can I ask how it was determined that Reiki was the cause of him losing consciousness? Could there have been other medical conditions that could have contributed to this?

Unfortunately it is not my place to explain medical conditions or try and explain his experience. However I do understand along with many other Reiki masters, that the Reiki energy is a self healing and self balancing type of energy that when called upon for healing is only meant for the highest good.

There may have been other underlying things that were happening during the time your dad was unconscious. I think the good news was that when your dad woke up, it didn’t seem that there was anything medically wrong with him. Reiki is only a name that was placed on a phenomenon of self healing. We all have the ability of self healing, and it can be as quick as a thought. However, if anyone has any doubts about Reiki, then it would be better to consult with a medical professional. Reiki Blessings…Karen

I do not do enough Reiki to be considered an authority, but I have always been told it does not harm. I have emailed the man who did my attunements to see if he has ever heard of anything like this.

By the way, I have used my feet to send Reiki to my animals too! And Source, the Universe, God, or whoever is sending the Reiki energy will fix the symbols if you mess them up, right?

Hi Connie, yes the symbols aren’t really that important when you are already a practitioner. I believe once you receive the attunements, the symbols are imbedded so to speak, and it is your intent to send Reiki that is the most important. And always in the highest good for all. Hope this helps. And thanks for stopping by to leave a comment. Karen
